Spain: Retail sales growth improves in February
Retail sales rose 2.2% in year-on-year terms in February, which was above January’s 1.9% increase. Looking at the details of the release, large chain stores sales expanded at a softer pace in February, while single retail stores sales gained momentum.
On a seasonally and calendar adjusted monthly basis, retail sales rebounded, rising 0.5% in February (January: -0.4% mom). Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 2.6% in February (January: +2.3%). This signals an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
