South Africa: Inflation holds steady in February
Consumer prices increased 0.60% in February over the previous month, following the 0.20% rise logged in January. Looking at the details of the release, the acceleration was largely driven by rebounding price pressures for transportation.
Inflation came in at 5.7% in February, unchanged from January’s result. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.0% in February (January: 4.8%). Finally, core inflation was also stable, coming in at January’s 3.5% in February.
