South Africa: Manufacturing output expands at a slower pace in November
According to a preliminary estimate released by the Statistical Institute on 11 January, year-on-year manufacturing production expanded 1.7% in November, coming in below the 2.3% increase in October. The print reflected an increase in the production of food and beverage, which more than offset declines in output of textiles, clothing, and footwear and communication equipment.
In month-on-month terms, manufacturing production picked up marginally from a 0.8% increase in October to a 0.9% rise in November. Lastly, annual average industrial production was minus 0.8% in November, matching October’s print.
