Slovenia: Decline in industrial output softens in June

August 10, 2020

Industrial output fell 12.0% in year-on-year terms in June, which followed May's 16.3% decrease. June's smaller drop was largely due to a softer fall in manufacturing output. In contrast, mining and quarrying production fell more heavily.

On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose at a softer pace of 4.3% in June (May: +9.5% mom). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 4.2% in June, down from May's minus 3.0% reading.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to fall 8.8% in 2020, which is down 0.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2021, the panel projects industrial output growth will rise to 4.9%.
