Slovenia: Industrial output grows at fastest pace in over two years in January
Industrial output rebounded at the outset of 2024, expanding 12.2% year on year in January (December: -3.8% yoy). January’s print marked the best reading since June 2021. Looking at the details of the release, the upturn chiefly reflected recovering manufacturing output and stronger activity in the mining and quarrying sector. That said, energy supply production contracted at a faster pace in January.
As a result, the trend improved sizably, with the annual average variation in industrial production coming in at minus 3.1%, up from December’s minus 4.6% reading.
On a monthly basis, factory output grew 10.6% in seasonally adjusted terms in January, contrasting December’s 1.8% fall and marking the best result on record.
