Slovakia: Industrial activity declines at a steeper rate in December
Industrial output contracted 13.1% year on year in December (November: -10.7% yoy). The weak December reading was driven by lower output in the all-important transport equipment sector, which contracted by almost 15%. Moreover, for a second consecutive month, energy as well as mining and quarrying output data have been left unpublished, likely on confidentiality and reliability grounds, respectively.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output declined 0.8% in December (November: -1.1% mom s.a.). Meanwhile, the annual average variation of industrial production came in at minus 4.7% in December, down from November’s minus 3.0%.
