Slovakia: Economic sentiment eases in April
Economic sentiment came in at 96.4 in April, down from March’s 100.0. As a result, the index fell below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected declining sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. Moreover, confidence in the services sector softened in April, while sentiment in the retail sector and among consumers improved in the surveyed month.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index increased in April.
