Romania: Inflation comes in at highest level since October 2003 in June
Consumer prices increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.76% from the previous month in June, a smaller increase than the 1.18% rise logged in May. The slowdown was largely driven by softer growth in prices for food. In addition, price pressures for non-food goods eased.
Meanwhile, inflation came in at 15.1% in June, which was up from May’s 14.5%. June’s reading was the highest inflation rate since October 2003. Annual average inflation rose to 9.2% in June (May: 8.3%).
