Portugal: Consumer confidence records worst reading since April 2020 in September
Consumer confidence came in at minus 35.8 in September, down from August’s minus 31.1. September’s result marked the worst performance since April 2020. Households’ views about the country’s and their own economic situations over the past and future 12 months worsened.
Meanwhile, the three-month moving average of the economic climate indicator came in at 1.6 in September, below 1.7 in August. Looking at the details of the release, a large drop in services sector sentiment outweighed slight improvements in sentiment in the trade, manufacturing and construction sectors.
