Portugal: Consumer confidence picks up but remains in negative territory in January
Consumer confidence came in at minus 35.4 in January, up from December’s minus 37.1. January’s reading was driven by improvements on household’s views about their financial situations over the next 12 months and greater expectations of purchasing big-ticket items over the same time horizon.
Meanwhile, the three-month moving average of the economic climate indicator came in at 1.4 in January, above 1.2 in December, due to more upbeat views regarding trade and services.
