Poland: Inflation ticks up in May

Consumer prices grew a revised 0.2% on a month-on-month basis in May (previously reported: +0.1% month-on-month), easing from April’s 0.5% rise. May’s result came on the back of higher prices for transport. Meanwhile, lower food prices moderated the rise. Core consumer prices fell 0.1% on a monthly basis.

Inflation edged higher to 1.7% from 1.6%, remaining within the Central Bank’s target band of 2.5% plus or minus 1.0 percentage point. Meanwhile, annual average inflation was stable from a month earlier at 1.8%. Core inflation ticked down to 0.5% from 0.6%.
