Poland: Inflation rises higher at start of year
Consumer prices increased 1.90% in January over the previous month, a larger increase than December’s 0.90% rise. The higher result was driven by moderating price pressures for food, housing and utilities. In contrasted transportation prices fell in the month.
Inflation came in at 9.2% in January, up from December’s 8.6% and representing the highest rate since November 2000 and the seventh consecutive month of rising inflation. Consequently, annual average inflation came in at 5.7% in January, rising from December’s 5.1% reading.
