Poland: Industrial activity deteriorates in May
Industrial output decreased 1.7% compared to the same month of the previous year in May, which contrasted April’s 7.8% increase. Looking at the details of the release, May’s drop was broad-based, as output in the mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and electricity, gas and utilities sub-sectors declined.
On a monthly basis, industrial output decreased 2.1% in seasonally adjusted terms in May, contrasting April’s 6.3% expansion. Meanwhile, the trend improved significantly, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 3.2%, up from April’s minus 4.8% reading.
