Poland: Business confidence improves in September, but remains in pessimistic territory
Manufacturing-sector business confidence came in at minus 6.2 in September, up from August’s minus 6.6. September’s result marked the strongest sentiment since March. Consequently, the index moved closer to the 0-threshold, but still indicated pessimism among businesses.
September’s improvement chiefly reflected firms’ less negative assessment of the current general economic situation as well as of their personal financial situation. Moreover, their future expectation of employment also turned less pessimistic. That said, firms’ appraisal of the future general economic situation, production levels, order books and their financial situation all worsened compared to the previous month. Their perception of current order books and production levels also deteriorated from August.
