Peru: Inflation drops to lowest level since May in August
Inflation inched down to 2.0% in August, following July’s 2.1%. August’s figure marked the weakest inflation rate since May, and was in line with the Central Bank’s 1.0–3.0% target. The slowdown was due to reduced price pressures for transport, as well as recreation and entertainment.
Annual average inflation fell to 3.0% in August (July: 3.3%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.28% in August over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.24% increase seen in July.
