Peru: Economic activity growth dips in April
Economic activity increased 3.7% compared to the same month a year earlier in April, which was a deterioration from March’s 3.8% increase. The reading was largely due to a deterioration in the commerce sector. In contrast, the agricultural sector improved. Lastly, activity in the manufacturing sector moderated, while mining and hydrocarbons production contracted at a softer pace than in March.
On a monthly basis, economic activity increased 0.3% in April, matching March’s expansion. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of economic activity coming in at 9.9% in April, down from March’s 13.1%.
