Peru: Business sentiment falls, remains pessimistic in November
Business confidence came in at 40.0 in November, down from October’s 43.0 and marking an end to the upward trend seen over the previous few months. As a result, the index remained well below the 50-threshold, which separates pessimism from optimism among businesses, for the 12th consecutive month.
The deterioration in firms’ expectations was broad-based in November, and came despite an improvement in the health crisis situation amid an advancing domestic vaccination campaign. Looking at the details, firms’ views regarding their sector, their company’s situation, future demand for their products, and investment in their firms all fell this month, although perceptions on employment improved slightly.
