Netherlands: Consumer confidence remains pessimistic July
Consumer confidence rose to minus 26.0 in July from June’s minus 27.0. Consequently, the index remained markedly below the 0-threshold, thus still indicated pessimism among consumers.
The uptick reflected a slight improvement in assessments of both the economic climate and willingness to purchase, although they remained deeply entrenched in negative territory. However, views on the economy over the past year soured, while sentiment regarding households’ financial situation swung from positive to negative.
