Netherlands Business Confidence August 2021

Netherlands: Business confidence eases in August but remains optimistic

August 30, 2021

Business confidence fell from 12.3 in July to 9.6 in August. Nonetheless, the index remained handsomely above the zero-threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

The downtick was driven by notably less upbeat views on output expectations and deteriorating views on stocks of finished goods. On the other hand, views on order positions improved to a record-high.

Consensus Forecast panelists see fixed investment expanding 5.6% in 2021, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s estimate, and 2.4% in 2022.
