Malaysia: Industrial output notches quickest growth since September 2022 in April

Industrial output expanded 6.1% year on year in April, which was above March’s 2.4% increase. The result marked the best reading since September 2022. April’s figure was partly driven by faster growth in manufacturing production. In addition, mining and quarrying production gained steam.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell at a sharper rate of 0.3% in April (March: -0.1% mom). Meanwhile, the trend improved significantly, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 1.6% in April, up from March’s 0.9%.
