Malaysia: Industrial output expands at fastest pace since May 2021 in June
Industrial output grew 12.1% compared to the same month a year earlier in June, which was above May’s 4.1% increase. June’s figure marked the strongest increase since May 2021. The reading reflected a broad-based improvement, with activity in the manufacturing, mining and quarrying and electricity and gas sub-sectors all improving in June.
On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose 8.4% in June (May: -2.9% mom), the best result since June 2020. Meanwhile, the trend improved sizably, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 4.3%, up from May’s 3.3%.
