Lithuania: Inflation moderates in December

Consumer prices in Lithuania remained flat in December from the previous month, following November’s 0.3% increase. According to the Statistical Institute, the figure mostly reflected higher prices for transport and food and non-alcoholic beverages offsetting lower prices for clothing and footwear, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
Inflation came in at 3.9% in Decemebr, down from November’s 4.4%. Meanwhile, harmonized inflation (based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, HICP) came in at 3.8% in December, down from November’s 4.2%. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation rose from 3.6% in November to 3.7% in December.
Lithuania Inflation Forecast
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect harmonized inflation to reach 2.2% in 2018, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2019, the panel sees inflation accelerating to 2.4%.
