Lithuania: Economic sentiment falls in January
Economic sentiment fell to 97.6 in January from December’s 99.3. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected weaker sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. Moreover, confidence in the services sector waned in January. Meanwhile, sentiment in the retail sector increased and consumer confidence improved in January.
Referring to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in January.
