Korea: Consumer confidence eases in December
Consumer confidence came in at 103.9 in December, down from November’s 107.6. That said, the index remained above the 100-point threshold, indicating that consumers were optimistic.
Considering the components, the biggest deterioration came to households’ expectations regarding the future of the domestic economy and employment opportunities, which were considerably pessimistic. In addition, consumer’s view their prospective spending with much less optimism. Notably, in the survey, households seem to be losing optimism regarding the future of housing prices.
