Korea: Business confidence in the manufacturing sector hits highest reading since May 2011 in July, but remains in negative territory
Business confidence in the manufacturing sector rose to 99.0 in July from June’s 97.0. July’s result marked the strongest sentiment since May 2011. As such, the index moved closer to the 100-point threshold, albeit remaining below—which still indicates pessimism among businesses.
Looking at the details, export-oriented firms saw their expectations improve markedly. Meanwhile, firms expected higher input and sales prices.
