Kenya: Inflation rises to eight-month high in December

December 31, 2019

Consumer prices rose 0.90% over the previous month in December, up from November’s 0.41% increase and marking the highest reading since April. December’s print largely reflected marked increases in prices for transport as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 5.2% in 2020, which unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2020, the panel also sees inflation averaging again 5.5%.
