Japan: Industrial output bounces back in September
Industrial output increased 0.5% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in September, which contrasted August’s 0.7% decrease. September’s rise was partly driven by a rebound in manufacturing output. In addition, mining production rebounded.
On an annual basis, industrial production fell 4.4% in September, matching August’s fall and marked the worst result since April 2022. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at a two-year low of minus 1.1% in September, down from August’s 0.0%.
