Latest reading: Consumer confidence index went up to 33.8 in June, following May’s 33.6. The latest reading was below the threshold of 50 that separates optimistic from pessimistic sentiment.
In June, households grew more positive about employment opportunities (+38.4 vs +38.3 in May). Sentiment regarding their income growth was stable from the prior month at +40.3.
