Italy: Industrial production rebounds in March
Industrial output expanded 1.2% in March on a month-on-month, seasonally-adjusted basis, strongly contrasting February’s 0.5% contraction. Growth in March came on the back of an increase in the manufacturing; and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sub-sectors, while mining and quarrying output declined from the previous month. Within the manufacturing sector, the textile, clothing, leather and accessory industries posted the strongest performance.
On an annual basis, industrial production expanded 3.6% in March, accelerating notably from February’s 2.5% rise. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output remained unchanged at 4.1% for the third consecutive month.
