Italy: Consumer confidence ticks up in February

The consumer confidence index rose to 101.4 in February from 100.7 in January.

February’s strengthening came on the back of improvements in the economic and the future climate subindexes. On the other hand, the personal and current subindexes deteriorated, as did consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items.

Panelists project private consumption to increase 6.0% in 2021, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, panelists see private consumption growing 2.7%.
