Ireland: Economic sentiment declines in May
Latest reading: Economic sentiment dropped to 93.4 in May, following April’s 94.8. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and the lowest since November 2022.
In May, sentiment worsened in the industrial sector (+10.2 vs +13.7 in April), the construction sector (+10.9 vs +18.0 in April) and the retail sector (+3.9 vs +7.9 in April). However, sentiment improved in the services sector (+5.7 vs +4.0 in April) and among consumers (-23.0 vs -28.6 in April).
