Ireland: Consumer sentiment hits highest reading since March 2022 in May
Consumer sentiment came in at 62.4 in May, up from April’s 59.2. May’s result marked the strongest level since March 2022.
Every component of the index improved in May: employment, spending intentions, the current and future state of the economy, and personal finances over the past and next 12 months. Irish consumers may have become less pessimistic as a result of easing inflation in the month and expectations of further cost-of-living measures from the government amid heavy news coverage of its large fiscal surplus.
