Indonesia: Retail sales growth ebbs in April
Retail sales expanded 1.0% in year-on-year terms in April, which was a deterioration from March’s 4.9% increase. April’s notable weakening was partly due to a deterioration in food, beverages, and tobacco sales. Meanwhile, motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales fell at a more moderate pace. Lastly, cultural and recreation goods sales gained steam, while information and communication equipment sales decreased at a softer pace than in the prior month.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth fell to 2.8% in April (March: +3.5%), which marked an over one-year low.
