India: Inflation plunges to lowest level since April in July
Consumer prices increased 0.74% from the previous month in July, accelerating from June’s 0.56% increase. Looking at the details of the release, clothing and footwear prices rose at a quicker pace in July compared to the previous month and price pressures for fuel and light intensified.
Inflation eased to 5.6% in July from June’s 6.3%. July’s result represented the weakest inflation rate since April. Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.8% in July (June: 5.9%).
