Hungary: Inflation eases in June from May
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 1.7% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 1.8% increase in the prior month, remaining below the Central Bank’s 2.0–4.0% target range.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were milder price pressures for clothing and footwear (+0.3% on a year-on-year basis vs +0.4% in May), food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.4% vs -2.1% in May), housing and energy (+1.0% vs +1.2% in May) and transport (+1.5% vs +2.5% in May).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices were up 2.0% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 1.9% rise in the previous month.
Finally, consumer prices flatlined in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.05% decline in the previous month.
