Guatemala: Inflation comes in at highest level since May 2021 in April
Consumer prices rose 2.47% in April over the previous month, accelerating from the 1.89% increase logged in March. April’s uptick was the highest reading since July 2017. Looking at the details of the release, clothing and footwear prices rose at a quicker pace in April compared to the previous month, while price pressures for housing, electricity, water and fuels fell.
Inflation rose to 4.6% in April, following March’s 4.2%. April’s reading marked the highest inflation rate since May 2021. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.6% in April (March: 3.7%).
