Guatemala: Inflation hits highest level since July 2019 in August
Consumer prices increased 0.40% over the previous month in August, broadly unchanged from July’s 0.42% increase. August’s result marked the softest rise in prices since May. The print reflected falling prices for housing; health; and communication being offset by a marked rise in transport prices.
Inflation came in at 4.2% in August, above July’s 2.9%. August’s result was the highest inflation rate since July 2019. Annual average inflation edged up to 2.4% in August (July: 2.3%).
