Ghana: Inflation rises in September

In September, consumer prices increased 0.17% from the previous month, which contrasted August’s 0.61% drop. September’s print was mainly driven by higher prices for communications.

Inflation edged up from August’s 16.9% to 17.2% in September, taking it further above the Central Bank’s target of 8.0%. Annual average inflation stabilized at August’s 18.0%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 17.2% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. The panel sees inflation at 12.2% in 2017, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
