France: Harmonized inflation falls to over one-year low in June
Harmonized inflation came in at 5.3% in June, which was down from May’s 6.0%. June’s figure represented the lowest inflation rate since March 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages and for housing and utilities grew at a more moderate rate in June. Moreover, prices for transportation dropped after growing in the previous month.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 6.6% in June (May: 6.7%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 4.5% in June, from May’s 5.1%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.21% in June over the previous month, contrasting May’s 0.07% fall.
