France: Industrial output growth broadly stable in October

Industrial production rose 1.6% in October, matching September’s result. The figure largely reflected accelerating energy output. Meanwhile, manufacturing production lost pace from the previous month.

On an annual basis, industrial production fell at a softer rate of 4.2% in October (September: -5.9% yoy), the best result since February. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 9.9% in October, down from September's minus 9.5%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to grow 5.8% in 2021, which is down 2.0 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, panelists see industrial output growth at 3.5%.
