Egypt: Inflation slides in October
Consumer prices increased 1.50% in October over the previous month, accelerating from September’s 1.14% rise. October’s uptick marked the sharpest increase in prices since October 2020. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transport rose at a quicker rate in October, as did prices for housing and utilities.
Inflation fell to 6.3% in October, following September’s 6.6%. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.2% in October (September: 5.0%). Lastly, core inflation rose to 5.2% in October, from September’s 4.8%.
