Ecuador: Inflation falls to lowest level since September 2021 in December

Inflation came in at 1.3% in December, which was down from November’s 1.5%. December’s result represented the lowest inflation rate since September 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation plunged in December and prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages grew at a slower pace. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear prices fell at a softer rate.

Annual average inflation ticked down to 2.2% in December (November: 2.4%).

Finally, consumer prices fell 0.02% over the previous month in December, a more moderate drop than November’s 0.40% drop.
