Czech Republic: Industrial production growth drops in December
Industrial production in the Czech Republic expanded 2.7% year-on-year in December, down from November’s robust 8.5% increase. The most notable increases were recorded in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers; the manufacture of electrical equipment products; and the manufacture of metal products. These more than offset decreased output in manufacture of basic metals. It should be noted that December 2017 contained two working days less than the same month a year earlier.
In seasonally-adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial output contracted 1.5% in December, a marked downturn from the previous month’s 3.6% expansion. Subsequently, annual average growth in industrial production decreased from 5.8% in November to 5.7% in December.
