Colombia: Industrial output growth picks up notably in June
Industrial output growth accelerated in June, clocking in at 20.8% in annual terms, picking up from May’s 8.7% increase, partly due to a favorable base effect. Looking at the details of the release, June’s acceleration was due to growing output in 35 of the 39 total subsectors, as opposed to output expanding in 24 subsectors in May. That said, in June, beverage production, as well as clothing manufacturing recorded softer growth rates.
Consequently, the trend pointed up sizably, with annual average variation of industrial production coming in at 5.1% in June (May: 2.6%).
