China: Housing market momentum ebbs in June
House prices in 70 large- and medium-sized cities increased 0.5% in June in month-on-month terms according to a weighted average index calculated by Refinitiv from data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The print was down from May’s 0.6% increase.
House prices increased 4.7% annually in June, down from May’s 4.9% increase. Annual average growth in house prices was stable at 4.5%.
Easing momentum in June could be linked to the impact of recent government measures to limit financial risks, including limits on property loans. These measures could weigh further on the property sector in H2.
