Chile: Inflation inches down in February
Consumer prices jumped a seasonally-adjusted 0.19% in February over the previous month, following the stronger 0.70% increase seen in January. Looking at the details of the release, prices for clothing and footwear and for transport grew the most.
Inflation decelerated to 2.9% in February from 3.1% in January, which had marked the fastest inflation in nine months. Meanwhile, annual average inflation inched down to 2.9% in February from January’s 3.0%. Lastly, core inflation cooled to 2.4% from 2.7% in January, which had marked the highest reading in close to one year.
