Chile: Business confidence decreases in July
Business confidence came in at 39.0 in July, down from June’s 42.7. July’s result marked the worst reading since July 2020. Consequently, the index remained below the 50-point threshold, signaling sustained pessimism among businesses.
July’s fall was driven by a broad-based deterioration across all subcomponents. Confidence in the industrial sector and in retail decreased the most. Currently all four main sectors—mining, construction, industry and retail—lie in pessimistic territory.
