Bulgaria: Inflation drops to lowest reading since December 2016 in September
Consumer prices fell 0.63% over the previous month in September, swinging from the 0.04% rise seen in August and marking the sharpest fall in prices since April. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices fell compared to the previous month, while prices pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels picked up pace.
Inflation came in at 0.9% in September, easing slightly from August’s 1.2%. September’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since December 2016. Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.3% in September (August: 2.5%). Lastly, harmonized inflation was steady coming in at August’s 0.6% in September.
