Brazil: Inflation comes in at highest level in nearly six years in October
Consumer prices rose a seasonally-adjusted 1.25% over the previous month in October, accelerating from September’s 1.16% rise. Looking at the details of the release, the sharper increase was driven by rising prices for transportation and food and beverages. October’s reading was the 17th consecutive month of rising consumer prices.
Inflation increased to 10.7% in October, following September’s 10.2%. October’s figure was the highest inflation rate since January 2016. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 7.3% in October (September: 6.7%).
