Brazil: Economic activity cools in September

Economic activity rose 1.3% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in September, down slightly from August’s 1.4% increase and marking the worst reading since April..

On an annual basis, economic activity fell 0.8% in September, a less pronounced decrease than August’s 3.9% fall and marking the best result since February. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of economic activity coming in at minus 3.3% in September, down from August's minus 3.1% reading.

LatinFocus Consensus Forecast panelists project GDP to grow 3.4% in 2021, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month. For 2022, the panel sees GDP expanding 2.5%.
